The Louis Vicat bridge seems a bit like any other bridge, but if you cross the Dordogne, know that you are driving on the first bridge ever made of artificial cement, the Portland cement. The bridge was built in 1822. Louis Vicat developed the process but unfortunately forgot to patent it, so that an Englishman could take the credit a few years later.
